BTCC Rounds 1 & 2 @ Brands Hatch
30th March to 1st April 2002
What a weekend to start the season. It was mine and Lorna's birthday weekend so it was party time all the way from start to finish. I arrived on the Saturday morning and stayed until late on the Monday. It was like being a child again. I received so many cards and presents from my friends, and I was laughing every moment! Thanks to everyone for making it a birthday to remember. BIG smiles

My best bit - was to see Matt Neal win the first BTCC race. It was also nice to see John B&Q and the team. I kind of get the feeling that this years BTCC is going to be close and very exciting. I look forward to seeing everyone at the next round at Oulton Park!

BTCC @ London - Proton Launch
13th March 2002

The season has now officially started. Today I had a unique opportunity to join Nigel Clark of www.redshoes-racing.com at the official launch of the Proton BTCC car in central London.

I was excited and very nervous as we set off on the first train journey of the day. Having never attending anything like this before I was unsure of what to expect. I felt like a kid who had won the opportunity to do a reporting assignment for the local TV/Newsround.

It was all very professional with just a few invited guests. After a short presentation of the team and drivers we headed outside for the unveiling of the car. Everything flowed smoothly and I was surprised at how relaxed the team personnel were. As they showed off their new car, the team gave you the feeling that they are excited about this new adventure. They gave no promises on the expected performance but I certainly get the feeling that they will be giving more than 110%.

Have just purchased a new digital camera this was my first opportunity to give it a go. My only disappointment was that the day was cloudy and dull, so my pictures have not come out liked I hoped.

Thanks has to go to Nigel for giving me this unique insight. Don't forget you can check out his site for all BTCC news throughout the year.
